Help Restore a Unique Part of Morris County's History

Donate today to help restore a replica Revolutionary War cannon in Morris Plains

A Local Historical Landmark

In the fall of 2022, a group of local history enthusiasts noticed that the cannon situated on the traffic island in front of Acorn Hall on Morris Avenue in Morristown was in dire need of restoration. Originally donated to Morristown by the Greater Morristown Historic Foundation—founded by beloved local philanthropists Dick and Jackie Deskovick—the cannon had long stood as a historical landmark. Thanks to the generosity of civic groups, neighbors, and everyday citizens, enough funds were raised to restore it to its former glory. We’re incredibly grateful to all who made that possible.

The Cannon's "Sister"

As it turns out, Morris Plains is home to the cannon’s “sister,” located in the heart of their downtown—and it’s in even worse condition. This next restoration will be a bigger undertaking, but one just as meaningful. The cannon stands as a proud symbol of resilience and our area’s Revolutionary War heritage. With your support, we can bring it back to life—just as we did before. All donations will go directly towards the restoration of the cannon; any leftover funds will go towards the landscaping around it or towards future maintenance. We appreciate all donors for paying the transaction fee that maintains this fundraising platform, which allows us to fundraise and update all the donors about our progress.
